Promoting the Art of Watercolor Painting for Over 40 Years |
The Annapolis Watercolor Club was founded in 1975 by a small group of artists under the leadership of Joanne Scott as a non-profit educational organization. The mission of the AWC is to encourage the art of watercolor painting through the education of artists.
We endeavor to support and encourage the larger art community. As creative people, we have found innovative ways to share the gift of imagination. Our members are also interested in art history, art appreciation, and travel. So, it is our intent to share these opportunities with others. We also know that giving to others is important, so we seek to gift to local charitable organizations.
During the many months of staying at home due to COVID-19 beginning in 2020, we continued our monthly meetings and art demonstrations with the use of Zoom, and were able to invite artists to demonstrate their talents from all over the nation, or internationally! We will continue to offer this innovative way to give art demonstrations to our members combined with quarterly in-person meetings.
We also offer workshops to our members, currently on Zoom. These consist of reasonably priced one or two-day classes that are offered by professional artists from around the country. The personal critiques help our members grow in their painting endeavors.
Membership is open to anyone interested in watercolors, at any skill level. There is no requirement to be juried in! Our members range from novice painters to experienced, recognized artists, including professional artists and teachers.
Membership is currently $35 and shall be paid annually on or before January 1 of each year. Membership includes newsletters delivered by email. Monthly meetings are included in membership; there is an additional fee for workshops, exhibitions, and trips. Our membership year begins in January. New members are invited to join at any time. For new members joining after June 1, dues are reduced to half-price ($17.50) for the remainder of the year.

All members are encouraged to participate by filling position of club leadership, as well as assisting with club activities and exhibitions offered throughout the year.
At the Annapolis Watercolor Club, we are deeply committed to fostering an environment that celebrates diversity, promotes equity, ensures inclusion, and prioritizes accessibility in all aspects of our work. Our dedication to these principles is integral to our mission of promoting the art of watercolor and creating a vibrant community of artists and enthusiasts.
