    The AWC has once again been invited to participate in the
    Earth Day Festival at St. Luke’s Church, 1101 Bay Ridge Avenue, Annapolis(Eastport).   Save the date, Saturday, April 26 and plan to enter a painting relating to Earth Day. It is a one-day event filled with activities, talks and performances and always draws an enthusiastic crowd.

    Registration will open April 1st

    EXHIBIT:

    Entry Limit:      2 paintings per artist (space for 30 paintings total); 2 matted pieces and giclées per artist
    Entry fee:     $15
    Commission:     none; donations to church encouraged
    Entry deadline:
      April 16th or when maximum of 25 paintings has been reached
    Receiving:  Thursday, April 24, 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon
    Pickup:        Sunday, April 27, 11:15 AM to 2:00 PM

    The exhibit will be indoors and will showcase our paintings of  everything  in our natural world that we all treasure and want to preserve, woods, water, sky, plants, wild animals. The exhibit will be on display panels in the spacious lower level meeting room of the church.  We will also have bins for matted original paintings and gicleé reproductions.

    Earth Day at St. Luke's Episcopal Church  Watercolor/Sketching Plein Air Event

    DATE/TIME: Saturday, April 26, 10 am - 2 pm, rain or shine.
    COST: Free! Please consider a donation.

    ADDRESS: 1101 Bay Ridge Ave., Eastport, MD  21403
    PARKING: Parking on site, and at the mall across the street if that lot is full.
    FACILITIES: Access to indoor restrooms. There is a gymnasium across the street that will accommodate a wheelchair.

    Talk about a variety of subjects for the artistic eye! Explore and paint this lively atmosphere of happy people, music, and even a bustling food truck. If you crave a quieter place, wander through three acres of wooded trails, surrounded by native plants. Feel free to set up anywhere respectfully, and please leave your space clean. Share your work and your favorite plein air place with the group when we gather near the church at the end of the event. See you there and let’s hope for sunshine!

    AWC Presents a Two- Day In-Person Workshop with

    Moh'd Bilbeisi

    Ink and Watercolor

    Join us for an exciting two-day workshop with the judge from our successful Annapolis Maritime Museum Exhibit, Mo Bilbeisi on May 6th and 7th! Known for his masterful skills in ink drawing and watercolor, Mo brings a dynamic and expressive approach to capturing scenes with bold lines and fluid washes.

     ️ Understanding ink techniques – Discover drawing skills you never knew you had
       Washes & layering – achieving depth and atmosphere using ink and/or watercolor
     ️ Composition & storytelling – bringing energy and life to your subjects
     Personalized feedback – hands-on guidance to refine your skills

     When: May 6th and 7th 2025 (2 day workshop)

    Where: 

    • May 6th: Indoors at Seelos Hall, 620 N Bestgate Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401
    • May 7th: outside on the Naval Academy grounds, we will meet at the Visitor's Center near the walking gate entrance (Gate 1), 52 King George St, Naval Academy, MD 21402

    Cost: $200 for members, $220 for non-members

    Registration closes: May 5th

    Please note:  Per our policies, no refunds will be given within 14 days of the workshop except in the case of medical emergency or death of a family member. 

    Mohammed (Moh'd) Bilbeisi is an imaginative professor, visionary architect, book author, illustrator, and watercolorist who is driven by an incredible passion for self-expression through art and illustration. Professor Bilbeisi’s work is noted for its hidden meaning, unique dynamism, elegance, and masterful technique. Moh'd has developed an innovative loose style that blends perceived precision with loose abstract expressionism. His use of vibrant watercolor pigments and expressive brush strokes distinguish his paintings and illustrations. He has had solo exhibitions in the US, Turkey, Jordan, and the UAE. His work is highly collected by individuals, nationally and internationally by governments, corporations and other entities such as: General Motors, Ducati USA, BMW, SKF Group, Oklahoma State University, Emirates Air, and Hilton Intl.

    Golden Anniversary Exhibit at Quiet Waters Park

    2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Annapolis Watercolor Club.  Our long-anticipated exhibit at the Quiet Waters Park will be the highlight of a series of exhibits in celebration of this anniversary.

    Exhibit Dates:  May 21 - July 6, 2025

    Reception:  Sunday, May 25, 1:30-3:30PM

    Awards Judge:  TBA

    The Galleries at Quiet Waters is a large space and comfortably holds 75 paintings.  This exhibit will be open to non-AWC guest artists as well as AWC members.  There will be a juror who will select first, second, and third place award recipients for members and for non-members.

    All paintings must have gold (either paint or metallic leaf or other golden color).

    Registration:  Opens April 1 for both AWC members and for non-member guest artists; deadline for entry will be April 21 or when the maximum total number of 75 paintings has been entered.


    We have reached the limit of 50 paintings from AWC members.

    Registration is now closed for members; if you are a member, you may add your name to the waiting list in case more space becomes available, but please DO NOT enter as a guest.  Thank you!

    Registration remains open to guest artists.


    Entry fee:  $10.00 per painting and per matted piece

    Entry limits:  Two framed paintings may be submitted by each  artist until the maximum of 50 paintings for AWC members and 25 paintings for guest artists has been reached.  Each artist may also submit two matted original watercolors or giclee reproductions.

    Sales:  There is a 25% commission on all sales.  Sales are handled by the Friends of Quiet Waters Park.

    Receiving: Tuesday, May 20, 8:00 - 9:00 AM

    Pick-up: Sunday, July 6, 2:00-4:00 PM

    Subject matter:  All paintings must have gold (either paint or metallic leaf or other golden color).

    Required Registration Information: In addition to title and price, be prepared to enter framed dimensions and a digital image of your entries.

    Exhibit Standards, Honor statement and Waiver:   The AWC Exhibit Standards have been updated.  Please review before registering. You can view and download a PDF of the standards hereYou will be asked to acknowledge that you have read and understand the standards and the Exhibit Honor Statement and Waiver.  That document can be viewed and downloaded here.

    In addition to the General Requirements in section 4 of the AWC Exhibit Standards, the following apply:

    6b. Accepted Artwork: All work must be totally original, created by the artist.

    6c. Media: Works must be watermedia paintings (i.e., watercolor, gouache, acrylic, egg tempera, casein, and ink) on natural or synthetic paper or paperboard; paper canvas, fabric (e.g., cotton or linen) canvas, Aquaboard, Clayboard or Gessoboard. No pastels or water-soluble oils. Collage elements are permitted, but must be primarily original watermedia work.

    6d. Permitted: Artwork resulting from guidance, photos, drawings or paintings used in workshop or classes must have proper credit given to the source to be specified after the “title” on the identification label and on the application form, i.e.: “photo from John Doe workshop”, or “from guidance in Jane Doe’s Class”.
