Plein Air

    Plein Air events are held throughout the year at a variety of inspiring locations, offering artists the opportunity to paint outdoors while capturing the changing light, seasons, and atmosphere. These gatherings encourage observation, experimentation, and creative growth in a relaxed, supportive setting. Open to artists of all experience levels, AWC Plein Air events provide a welcoming way to connect with fellow artists, explore new locations, and enjoy the shared experience of painting on location.

    Indoor 'Plein Air' Event

    Date:  Thursday, February 19, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

    Location:    Columbia, MD (address will be sent to registrants)
    Registration:  registration mandatory, deadline Feb. 16

    Limit:  10

    Parking: The artist shares a driveway with neighbors so please park on the road and not on the driveway.

    For this wintry plein air, an artist will open their home to AWC members for painting, sketching, and sharing tips with fellow artists. A selection of still life pieces will be provided or bring your own small pieces. We will paint at tables, counter tops, or wherever strikes your fancy. There is a deck with trees in the yard and if you feel like a winter stroll, there is a running creek and pond by the path at the end of the cul-de-sac. Drinks and Snacks will be provided.

    Fee: Free, but please register

    Parking: There is a small parking lot at Tatte Bakery, parking along the streets of Annapolis Town Center, and 2 parking garages within walking distance. 

    Meeting Point: Meet at Tatte Bakery, 305 Sail Pl, Annapolis, MD 21401. Convene again at the bakery around 12:40 to share your sketch/painting with the group.

    Facilities: There are bathrooms available inside the larger shops/stores along the town center. 

        Join the Annapolis Watercolor Club for a Plein Air event at the Annapolis Town Center. Members are invited to paint and sketch on location while capturing the energy, architecture, and vibrant atmosphere of this popular community gathering place. With its mix of storefronts, green spaces, and lively pedestrian scenes, the Town Center offers a variety of inspiring subjects for artists of all levels. Come enjoy a relaxed day of creativity, fresh air, and connection with fellow painters.
