Demonstrations

Each month during the AWC member meeting, a guest artist presents a demonstration of a different or unique painting technique, or discusses a topic useful to working artists. Demonstrators include artists local to the Annapolis area as well as presenters from as far away as the West coast, Canada, the UK, France, and Poland. Topics may also cover practical subjects such as photographing artwork, framing, and other professional considerations.

In-Person Featuring Matting & Framing Knowledge from

WHEN: Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM

WHERE: Seelos Hall Community Center at St. John Neumann Church, 620 N Bestgate Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401

ART SALON: Please bring your current art work, sketches and paintings to share with others. They will be displayed and there will be paper and pens for people to write their reactions to your work, which you can take home.

WHAT TO BRING: A painting for salon and a snack or dessert to share

Gary Palmer brings decades of custom framing experience through his work at The Frame Shoppe in Annapolis, a locally owned and family-operated business serving the community since 1987. His expertise in presentation, preservation, and design has helped countless artists showcase their work at its very best.

The Frame Shoppe has been certified by the Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA), and features a knowledgeable list of custom framing solutions such as:
Conservation framing
Shadow boxing
Heirlooms
Matting
Acid-free products
Stretching
Glass, acrylic, and museum-quality frames
Delivery and installation
